In 1991, the Parish Clinic expanded its services to provide
for patients suffering from vision loss and damage. Asvision loss severely impairs an individual’s ability to perform basic daily activities, the objective of the effort was to help patients become functional.

Michael Merck and Christopher Wallyn, both from the Diocese of New Ulm, were instrumental in facilitating and furnishing the new Clinic with eye care equipment and training.

The eye clinic has since functioned to provide relief for patients suffering from infection, impaired vision, cataracts, Tracoma, and Pterigon. Juan Tun, trained by Dr. Wallyn and Merck staffs the clinic year round. Since 1993, the two doctors, along with Juan Tun, have provided more than 60 no-cost eye surgeries each year.

Additionally, the eye clinic facilitates the distribution of eyglasses to patients as they visit every week.
