Serving as a San Lucas Mission Volunteer is both
rewarding and challenging. It takes flexibility, initiative,
patience, a sense of humor, and openness. The Volunteer Program is more and more competitive every year and spots are limited.
If you have looked through the website, reviewed the links to the right (including our Vision and Mission Statements) and think the
San Lucas Mission Volunteer Program might be what you
are looking for in an international volunteer experience, you may wish
to complete the Preliminary Application. We recommend that all individuals sumbit the following appication at least 10 weeks prior to their intended start-date.
Application Process: All individuals
wishing to be considered for the San Lucas Mission Volunteer
Program must submit a Preliminary Application online. There is an additional essay application for all interested parties. For those considering a stay longer than 2 months, there is the essay plus a lengthy interview with the volunteer coordinator. Additionally, younger candidates (under 21) may be asked to submit letters of recommendation and/or character references. Please contact us with further questions.
Attention Summer 2011 Applicants: As of December 7, 2010, all summer applications will be held for decisions until mid-March, when we will decide at once on all applications up to that point. If you are applying for dates between May 15 and August 31 and wish to stay for 3 to 7 weeks, please be advised that the application deadline is February 28, 2011, by which time you must have submitted both your initial online application and short-answer essay portion of the application. A half hour phone interview will be scheduled with all summer applicants before March 15, which is also the date when decisions will be released.
This summer policy does not affect those who wish to stay for 2 months or more. If you wish to stay for a longer period of time, there is no specific deadline, but all volunteers are still encouraged to apply at least 10 weeks in advance of their prospective arrival date. |
